After the Interstate Railway Services, the third option available for reaching Rishikesh is via Flights.

The Nearest Domestic Airport to Rishikesh is the Jolly Grant Airport (also known as the Dehradun Airport), which is located in between Rishikesh and Dehradun.

The distance from the Airport to Rishikesh is 25 kilometres (approximately), while, the distance between the Airport and Dehradun is also the same, being 25 kilometres (approximately).

The Jolly Grant Airport is the only Airport that provides Domestic flights everyday, and is the only airport that connects other states to Uttarakhand by air.

The Jolly Grant Airport is a Popular way of reaching Uttarakhand and is located in such a favourable location, making Rishikesh, Dehradun and Mussorie quite easily accessible.

The Government of Uttarakhand is making more and more efforts to avail more and convenient Flights and Flight Timings.

The Jolly Grant Airport can easily accommodate big aircrafts like the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320s.

The Airport is built in a wide and open area, total land area being 42.08 acres.

The Airport is equipped with all modern services.

Connectivity-Part 2

Hello Everyone,

After the Inter State Bus Services, the second option for people to reach Rishikesh is via Trains.

The Railway Station of Rishikesh is built in a wide and open area and is just a 100 metres away from the main Market Town of Rishikesh, but being its biggest problem is that there are only a few trains that start off from Rishikesh, so only Indian Tourists (that too a very few) come via trains.

The Foreign Tourists do not prefer to come by trains because there is no Superfast Train available from New Delhi till now (though the Rishikesh Railway Station has been here for quite a long time now, just the Government hasn't initiated in providing new and super fast trains that can reach rishikesh till now)

There is an Enquiry Desk, a Reservation Desk from where you can book your Tickets.

Auto's are easily available for commuting anywhere into town and the Auto Drivers are available for your Assistance.

The Rishikesh Train Station is not operational all night because there are a very few trains that Depart from here .

You always have the option of Travelling to Haridwar via Trains and then Taking a Bus, an Auto or a Taxi for commuting to Rishikesh from Haridwar.

The distance between Haridwar and Rishikesh is only 24kms (Eta - 45 minutes)(Depending on the traffic and road conditions)

Departs at 3:25 pm from New Delhi Railway Station

Destination - Dehradun via Haridwar

Time of Journey - 9:10 pm (5 Hours 45 minutes approx)

Suggestions - More Trains should be provided by the Government    and the timings should be good enough for everyone, and the already existing trains that arrive only till Haridwar Junction should be extended till the Rishikesh Junction.

A separate Enquiry Desk has been provided for those Buses that Depart for the Four Pilgrimage Locations (Char Dham Locations-Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri).

Rishikesh Bus Station provides Buses that go towards all the States of India and even onto The Tehri and Pauri Garhwal Hills.

The Rishikesh Bus Station is Operational all night and you can easily fetch Auto's for commuting anywhere inside Rishikesh at any point of time.

The Auto Drivers are very helpful and are available 24*7 for your Assistance.

Although the bus services were applauded by the commuters, the cleanliness has been an issue in non-deluxe buses.

Rishikesh is also well connected with the Jolly Grant Domestic Airport located 25 km from Rishikesh.

For Foreign tourists, the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, is located 250 km from Rishikesh. The distance might be long, but the Journey is surely one to remember.
